Macbook to tv connection

I think my macbook has a mini-dvi. If I get a mini-dvi to composite adapter then I should be able to connect an RCA type from the adapter to the yellow on the TV, right?
I assume the audio would be through a separate cable - would I use the headphone out (single mini-plug) on the macbook to my audio amp aux in (dual rca plug)?
Thanks

You are correct. A mini-dvi to composite adapter would allow you do connect to the TV's RCA connection. However, note that the quality of the image will be inferior to that of your MacBook's built-in display.
Yes, audio would be through a separate cable. An 1/8" (mini plug) to RCA will work fine.
